Great Yarmouth Borough Council - Communal Entrance Doors

About Bamford Doors

Bamford Doors are the longest established communal doors manufacturer in the UK, specialising in the design, manufacture, and installation of bespoke Secured by Design aluminium security door sets. Bamford doors have worked for several years with the LHC in providing communal security solutions to organisations.

Project Brief

Great Yarmouth Borough Council had a requirement to replace a number of communal entrance doors to low rise blocks in the borough. The existing doors on Middlegate were old and tired and not fit for purpose. They were aesthetically pleasing for residents or the wider community and the blocks suffered from high levels of ASB and security issues. The existing door entry system was in need of upgrading as it was not functioning properly.

Great Yarmouth BC approached the CPC for assistance to procure new security doors and door entry systems, utilising the C8 framework. The CPC provided Great Yarmouth with the list of suppliers on the framework and Great Yarmouth BC nominated Bamford Doors.

The project

Great Yarmouth BC direct awarded to Bamford Doors a pilot site 2 blocks – 25-53 and 55-79 Middlegate. Due to experiences with their previous supplier of doors, Great Yarmouth wanted to test Bamford Doors to make sure they were able to deal with complicated issues and run projects smoothly.

Bamford Doors completed site surveys for replacing all the doors on the blocks with new aluminium security doors and proposed that the door entry was replaced using Came Entrotec door entry and Came KMS cloud based access control to secure the doors, as the blocks were suffering from unwanted access, antisocial behaviour and residents felt vulnerable.

Orders we placed in December, installation commenced in March and the whole project was fully installed and commissioned by May.

During the project our Client Support Manager Adam Durrance and our Technical Support Manager Tony Maw had multiple meetings with the client to check up on the progression of the project to make sure everything was running smoothly.

Results of project

The client was extremely happy with the new installation as the site is now secure. The new door entry installation is a cloud-based system, which enables the staff managing the site to do it remotely. Residents are also impressed with the look of the doors and the ease of use and feel safe and secure in their home environment.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council said “Communication and support provided by the Client Support Manager Adam Durrance has been excellent.”
